Smiley's Story

Meet Smiley — Happiness with a Wagging Tail

Sometimes you wonder how a dog ended up with their name. That is absolutely not the case with Smiley. Just look at his resting happy face! This cheerful 5-year-old boy radiates joy and lives up to his name in the best way.

Smiley is a curious pup who loves exploring the world through his nose. Walks with him are all about the smells, the sniffs, and taking his time to check everything out. Smiley is also a smart boy who knows sit and down, and he does well in playgroups. If you have another dog at home, a meet and greet is always recommended to make sure everyone’s a great match.

Volunteer's say they love spending time with Smiley in the yard. He is a happy affectionate boy who is eager to please and easy to love. Staff also recently had him at an offsite event and shared that he was incredibly well behaved. He enjoyed all the visitors and was a perfect gentleman with kiddos and adults alike.

Volunteer's Doggy Day Out with Smiley
I wanted to see if Smiley is as charming in a home as he is on a walk and the answer is a resounding "yes!" Smiley jumped in the car eagerly and was a calm passenger. He explored our yard a bit cautiously at first, but eventually got comfortable enough to show me his best zoomies and it was absolutely joyful! Inside, Smiley was a perfect gentleman, sniffing around politely. This smart boy knows how to sit, shake, and lay down and he takes treats gently. It took a bit of encouragement for Smiley to sit on the sofa with me, but I like to read, he likes to listen, and we both like to snuggle so it was a win-win situation. His smile may be the first thing you notice, but this guy's big heart is what really makes him special.

Another volunteer recently took Smiley to the park and discovered that he would make an incredible running buddy. He loves to run right beside you and is a very smooth and graceful runner, especially for such a muscular boy!
