Smiley's Story

“Happy-go-lucky” may be the simplest way to describe Smiley. “He's like a plush, soft, stuffed toy” exclaimed one of his caregivers. Smiley's namesake comes from his happy personality, positive outlook and good-natured temperament. He's always happy to greet his human, go for a walk and is always ready to come when called with a smile and tail wagging. This pet shows his gratitude and happiness with his big smiles. About all it takes to get an ecstatic tail wag or a colt-like frolic from this big teddy bear is a nice scratch behind the ears and a back rub.

“When heading outdoors in the morning, he's as frisky as a young colt .....kicking up his heels, pawing his hands in the air and rearing on his hind legs” said his foster. “It's an absolute joy to watch him as he came out of his shell”. True to form, it took three days to see the full effects; but, it was worth the wait when he relaxed. He has been spotless indoors, sleeps soundly throughout the night and is friendly with everyone he meets.

Smiley comes with our standard medical package which includes a neuter, microchip, rabies, parvo-distemper, Bordetella and heartworm test. He will be dewormed and is on flea and tick as well as heartworm prevention.

This pet is NOT suited for an apartment. If you believe your environment and family are a fit and you are interested in meeting this super handsome guy, please submit an application.

Breed characteristics:

Calm, well mannered, devoted.
Can guard his family especially if sensing stress
Bred to wander so fenced in yard is required. Good with children.
No farm duty for this sweet guy. We want his days of living outdoors to be behind him. He's extremely happy to be and inside pet with lots of outdoor privileges.
Relatively low maintenance.
Large breeds like the Great Pyr can bloat easily.
