This boy just arrived to us from our shelter partner in Arkansas.
He is a friendly social boy that does well with other dogs. He is a typical low energy easy senior dog. So if you are looking for calm companionship consider Smeagle
Our vet looked at him and is guess he is between 10 and 13yrs old.
He has an old ear hematoma that healed on it's own which is why he has one shriveled ear. He has some hair loss on his back end that they think is from flea dermatitis from awhile ago. He is flea free now so she thinks his hair will grow back with good nutrition and consistent flea prevention.
His teeth are pretty worn down and may be causing him some pain. We have been giving him softened kibble and wet food.
She noticed he has some sensitivity in his hips.
You can see from this video he likes his ear scratched: https://youtu.be/Va8Fa1J3V1A
He is up to date on vaccines and rabies. His neuter is scheduled for next week.
He is at a foster home in Griffith, IN if you would like to meet him fill out the application below
**We do offer a Senior for Senior program. If you are 65 and older and adopt a pet 7 years and older the adoption fee is 1/2 price. $75 for Smeagle
- please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application
- one of our team members will get back to you.
- our dogs can be seen by appointment only after an approved application has been received.
- Adoption fee helps to cover spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, initial worming, and microchip.
-We cannot place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.
NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.
Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Dyer, IN area and partner with 12 other rescues and shelters in both IL and IN that are willing to help southern pets in need.
We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
