Sly's Story

Meet Sly: The Handsome Shy-Guy Looking for a Forever Home!

1 year old, 60lb Sly found himself at the shelter in June of 2025. He was very nervous in his kennel at first, wary of people and generally very timid. But with time out in the yard volunteers noticed he opened up, being playful with other dogs and becoming more comfortable with people thanks to the help of his dog friends. Our team at Dog Coalition LA was able to get him into a foster home in September thanks to a dedicated foster!

In his foster home, Sly is becoming more comfortable with his foster parents and other people. Though still nervous, we are seeing him come out of his shell and learn what it feels like to be a dog out in the real world. He loves spending time chilling and napping in his crate, which also serves as a safe space for him if he’s feeling overwhelmed. He is also doing well with potty training and is becoming more comfortable on leash at our weekly walk classes.

Sly is fostered in a home with cats and is very respectful of their space. We believe he would do well in a home with cats! We also believe he would do well in a home with another canine companion as we’ve seen him be gentle, playful, and social with all kinds of dogs.

What You Should Know About Sly:

- This young fella is looking for a forever home willing to take time and space with him, help him feel safe, and build his confidence as he continues to mature into a wonderful guy!

- Sly prefers slow, steady, and calm introductions. His sweet and shy temperament coupled with a handsome charm is sure to win you over!

To meet Sly, please fill out an adoption form on dogcoalitionla.org/adopt and follow @dogcoaltionla for updates!
