Meet Slate!<br/><br/>Cattle Dog Mix <br/>8 Months Old <br/>31 lbs Male<br/><br/>Slates story began in Mississippi, where he and his 10 siblings were found abandoned in a box. After making the journey to Illinois, he found a wonderful foster home through Rescued Rascals before being adopted in February.<br/><br/>Over the past several months, Slate has enjoyed life with a family and young children. Unfortunately, he was recently returned—not because of anything he did wrong, but because the family realized his breed and energy level werent the right fit for their lifestyle. When puppies arrive as mixed-breed litters, its impossible to know exactly what breeds theyll grow into, so sometimes surprises happen.<br/><br/>The good news? Slates original foster family happily welcomed him back with open arms while he searches for the forever home he truly deserves.<br/><br/>Slate is a happy, affectionate young dog who absolutely loves being around people. He enjoys spending time outdoors, sleeps soundly through the night in his crate, and is always excited to be part of whatever his people are doing. Like any adolescent puppy, hes still learning house manners and will benefit from continued positive training and consistency as he matures.<br/><br/>Slate is full of typical young-dog energy and would thrive with an active family that enjoys walks, hikes, playtime, or other adventures. He loves people and is eager to be included in family life. He is currently adjusting to sharing his foster home with a more laid-back resident dog, so a canine companion who enjoys playful interactions—or a family committed to helping him continue learning appropriate play—would be ideal.<br/><br/>Slate is currently unaltered, but he will be neutered soon. If the timing works out, his neuter can also be completed after adoption through Rescued Rascals.<br/><br/>Interested in adopting?
