Slate's Story

*TO APPLY GO TO www.LuckyDogRefuge.com* (Petfinder messages will not be seen)

We received an early morning call from our local emergency vet about a dog that had just been brought in for a "behavioral euthanasia." A dog that, the vet observed, presented no signs of being a danger to the public. We did our due diligence and spoke to the rescue that brought him in, as well as the trainer that he had been boarding with. It turns out that his behavior wasn't the issue, but rather, a lack of fosters without other dogs to place him with. (PSA: fostering saves lives!)

Knowing this, we could not believe this dog had found himself facing the needle at the age of one. After being rescued out of the south, he was supposed to have a better chance here, and instead, he narrowly escaped an unnecessary euthanasia. We are grateful for the veterinarian who knew better and advocated to save his life. (Not all heroes wear capes; many wear scrubs!)

We have named him Slate. A new fresh slate. Welcome, buddy, we got your back from here on out, and it's going to be all alright.

Slate is a very good boy, he's just dog selective and would do best in a home without other dogs. Can you give Slate the home he deserves? Apply now to meet him!

NOTE: We do not know the exact breeds of our dogs; any mention of breeds are best guesses and not guaranteed.

YOU CAN ALSO APPLY VIA THE DIRECT LINK BELOW.

https://forms.gle/LXKMKSnagxLSad668

Thanks for considering a rescue pup!

Lucky Dog Refuge's Adoption Policy
Generally, puppies and adult dogs have an adoption fee of $600; senior dogs have an adoption fee of $350. However some dogs may have a higher adoption fees based on the extent of their training or other factors. We also may have "legacy dogs" whose higher fee help offset the medical costs of some of our emergency cases. Fees are set at the discretion of the rescue. The adoption fees covers only a portion of the expense the rescue spends on the medical care, housing, and transport of each rescue dog; the rest is covered through fundraising efforts. - The first step towards adoption is to complete an adoption application, which can be found online at our website www.LuckyDogRefuge.com, under the “Apply Now” tab or at https://forms.gle/LXKMKSnagxLSad668. - Do NOT use the Petfinder links or email to ask us about our adoptable dog listings - we do not always receive these messages and will not respond to them.
