Skyla's Story

Skyla is a darling 1 1/2 yr old, 6.5# female toy poodle. She was a breeder dog that was spayed and adopted out, but her family had expectations of her becoming a service dog without any training, and when it didn't work out she was returned and surrendered to Second Chance. Skyla is sweet and loving - she'll spend as much time as possible in your lap. She would love to have her person home with her a lot of the time. Good with other dogs of all sizes, and is feisty when she plays with them - if they have her tennis ball shell chase after them and take the ball out of their mouth. Ideally, her adoptive home will have another small to medium dog that is tolerant of her play, and have a secure fenced yard for them to play in. Because there are several dogs in her foster home, all the dogs are fed in their crate. Skyla runs in, eats well, and is quiet. She is also kenneled overnight. Skyla appears to be housebroken as long as she gets out on schedule (doesn't signal when she needs to go outside) - soon after waking up in the morning , just before going to sleep at night, and about every 4 hrs. in between. She could be crated for up to 5 hrs. if left home. Skyla is well behaved in the house - no inappropriate chewing, not a big barker. She is a very active dog and will need daily exercise (that's why another playful dog and a fenced yard would be a real plus!!). She's been good with respectful, dog-experienced children 10 yr and older - a younger child might carry her around and accidentally drop her if she wiggles. Comes when called, but hasn't learned any commands. Skyla is very sweet and affectionate. Friendly and easy going. Likes to be brushed and combed, and she will need grooming 4-5 times/yr. Despite being a small dog, she is able to go up and down the stairs, and jump up on the furniture without difficulty.

Skyla is spayed, current on distemper and rabies vaccinations, and her 4DX tests are all negative. Her microchip is registered to Second Chance. Her adoption fee is $400 , and be sure you can afford the ongoing expense of the grooming. If you are interested in Skyla, please call 651-771-5662.
