Skye's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Skye! She is a total catch! Skye is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix, approximately 5-6 years old and 115 lbs. She is considered a Senior dog with special needs due to her medical history. Her gentle heart has seen her through a tough start, coming into SPIN's care in April 2024 as a street rescue after a Good Samaritan found her.

Medical History (please read carefully): Skye successfully completed heartworm treatment and is now fully recovered! While undergoing treatment, she was diagnosed with Spondylosis (arthritis in the spine), which is a manageable long-term condition. Her comfort is maintained with daily maintenance medication.

Affectionately nicknamed "Ms. Polar Bear" for her bobbed tail and dignified demeanor, Skye is a gentle giant who is perfectly balanced in energy and temperament. Earlier this year, Skye's situation was quite rough, having been found abandoned and wandering a neighborhood.

She absolutely loves being outside and finds pure joy lounging under the winter sun or dozing in the summer shade. When the weather turns inclement, she’s just as happy relaxing indoors. She loves the freedom to move between outdoor adventures and indoor comforts with a doggie door.

Skye has a playful side, she enjoys romps and runs which are followed by long naps. She has been a playful foster sister and loves playing with the dogs in her foster home, including a young puppy which she tolerates very well. She may exhibit minor resource guarding tendencies (food, treats) when in a new situation. She should simply be fed separately from other household pets at first.

Her feline sibling is new to the foster household and is shy around dogs, but Skye has shown no signs of aggression or undue curiosity. With a proper introduction and time to adjust, she seems likely to coexist peacefully with cats.

She’s fully house-trained and knows to use her inside voice. Whether lounging on a comfy dog bed or sprawling on the floor, she’s calm and well-mannered, even when left alone. She easily follows commands and quickly learns the rhythms of her household.

Skye is comfortable on the leash and adores meeting new people. She’s calm in public places and is always a joy to bring along on outings, she does great at our adoption events and going to the brewery with her foster dad.

Open your home and heart to this incredible girl – she deserves all the love in the world!

Skye is currently in a foster home in DFW area, Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport on their own. Skye is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and recently recovered from heart worms! Her adoption fee is $250.
