Sitka's Story
Sitka’s Birthday Came and Went… and He’s Still Waiting for His Forever Home!!

Sitka made a birthday wish this year—and sadly, it hasn’t come true yet.
Over a year ago now, Sitka was found by Animal Control after being dumped in Texas. It was immediately noticeable that something was terribly wrong—his eyes were badly bulged, and he was completely blind. With no one coming for him and clear medical needs, Sitka was taken to a high‑kill shelter, where dogs like him are often given no chance at all.
For a dog with medical issues like Sitka, his fate was sealed almost instantly—a death sentence simply for needing help and we couldn’t let that be the end of his story. We had to step in and save him!!

Sitka was labeled “special needs.”

The truth? Sitka IS special—in every beautiful way - but we don't consider him "special needs" as he is absolutely the smartest, loyal and loving boy you will meet.
Yes, Sitka is blind. He had to have his eyes removed. But spend even five minutes with him and you’ll quickly realize: he is not broken, limited, or fragile. He is brilliant. He confidently feels his way through the world, navigating with grace and trust that will absolutely steal your heart.
His birthday has come and gone, and Sitka is now 5 years old—but instead of celebrating in a home of his own, he’s still sadly waiting. We just can't understand WHY!!
Sitka is:
-Housebroken
-Leash trained
-Low‑key and low maintenance
-Quiet, gentle, and content simply being near his person
And just like any other husky, Sitka still enjoys his 10–15 minutes a day of playtime, happily zooming around the yard with you and soaking up the joy of the moment. He loves walks and exploring with you.
He doesn’t ask for much—just a safe place, a warm bed, and someone who will love him as deeply as he will love them. Truly, if you ask us, Sitka is the best dog ever. You honestly wouldn’t even know he can’t see. Again—he is brilliant.
Sitka doesn’t need a busy or chaotic home. He thrives on calm, routine, and kindness. He would be perfect for someone looking for a peaceful, devoted, loving companion. Because of his blindness, Sitka does best as an only dog—he’s vulnerable around others who may not understand his limits.
Sitka doesn’t see the world—but he feels it.
-He feels gentle hands.
-He feels the comfort of a soft blanket.
-And he feels the absence of the love he’s still waiting for.
-He survived abandonment.
-He survived a high‑kill shelter.
Now all he needs is someone to choose him.

Please help us make his birthday wish come true—even if it’s a little late.
We promise… you will fall in LOVE.

Learn more about adopting Sitka:
https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HOF/Dog
