Meet Sissy!<br/><br/>Sissy is the perfect example of how much resilience a dog has. Sissy was found as a stray, walking up to cars, desperately looking for someone's help. She was very malnourished, covered in fleas, and trapped in the summer heat. She was quickly given a bath and taken to the vet where all of her health conditions came to light. Sissy was suffering from mange and heartworms. Sissy was in for a long road to recovery but no matter how uncomfortable she must have been, her sweet disposition always shined through.<br/><br/>Sissy has only ever wanted affection and food. She mostly napped and even slept through her foster parent's fence being worked on, which helped us figure out that she is hard-of-hearing, potentially deaf. After a bit of time and TLC, Sissy has started to grow her fur back and gain some weight. She has been treated for heartworms, had her teeth cared for, and happily rested during recovery.<br/><br/>Once Sissy's skin was no longer contagious, she was able to become the couch potato she was meant to be. She loves to cuddle on the couch or in the bed especially if a heated blanket is available. Sissy has done well meeting other dogs, she may come on a bit strong as she wants to immediately lick their faces, but she accepted corrections appropriately. Sissy does seem to have some prey drive as she likes to chase the small dog and cats, so we recommend slow, thoughtful introductions.<br/><br/>Sissy has never bothered anything in the home, nor has she had any potty accidents. Sissy can be a bit clingy (she loves her people!), and she does cry some when left alone. Because of her hearing loss, her cries can be loud, but she gives up quickly and opts for a nap instead. Sissy is not the most active girl but where you're going, she's going - she's always along for the ride! Sissy has been through a lot, likely more than we'll ever know, but nothing has broken her spirit. Her foster mom says it's been a privilege having Sissy in her home and Sissy deserves to spend the rest of her years cozy, loved, and a part of a family.
