Simba's Story

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization.

SAY HELLO TO SIMBA!

9-year-old male Chug (pug/chihuahua mix) Simba takes some of the best traits from each breed and combines them in his 13-pound fur suit filled with love. He is a beautiful boy with a gentle gaze and the most interesting markings. He's got the small stature of a chihuahua with the wrinkles of a pug. He's picky about treats and loves to burrow like a chihuahua and he possesses the cuddling skills of a pug.

Simba was saved by a vet tech when he was brought in after the death of his owner and subsequent transfer to several family members. The caring folks at the veterinary practice took very good care of Simba. Fixing his little feet where his nails had grown into his pads and giving him a thorough exam. He is a sweet boy who has truly thrived in foster care where his needs are being met, and he feels safe and loved.

Simba settled in easily in his foster home. He is a very adaptable boy. He loves to meet new people, though shy at first, he gives a little bark hello and then warms up quickly. He is super affectionate and would love a home where he could cuddle up with his person or an older mellow dog like himself. Simba gets a bit nervous when meeting active dogs but settles once the initial energy mellows. He is gently curious around cats.

Get ready for some burrowing under covers from this little meerkat! He has been sleeping in bed with his foster family, and nothing makes him happier than getting under the covers. By the way, if you don't give him access to get under the covers, he will find a way! Simba does not require a lot of exercise. He likes a short, leashed walk in temperatures above 50. We can see Simba acquiring plenty of winter sweaters in his future. His vision and hearing are good, and he navigates stairs without difficulty, but he does enjoy being carried. Not because he can't walk, but he just likes it. Bestie accompanying you to all the places? We think yes!

Simba is picky about food. He is currently eating 2 small meals of tiny bite kibble enhanced with chicken and rice with a small snack in between. He likes cheese and little bites of meat. He does not like the vacuum cleaner, so if you want to let that go for a few days you can tell guests you didn't vacuum because your dog doesn't like it. Simba knows sit and come and he is house trained. Simba will need frequent nail trims to ensure his nails do not grow back into his pads. He's being treated for a little skin abrasion on his leg currently with a follow up to ensure he responds to treatment. After that, he'll be happy to be home for the holidays. Simba is an all-around easy-going dog who won't demand much from you. Just a place he can finally call home forever.

Interested in adopting Simba? Please complete an application.
