Simba's Story

All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step.
Hi! My name is Simba, and if you're looking for a professional cuddle buddy, I think we should meet.

Not too long ago, I was wandering the streets of Georgia all by myself. My fur was so matted that I could barely show off how handsome I really am! Thankfully, some wonderful humans rescued me, treated me to the best spa day ever, and now I'm feeling fresh, fluffy, and ready for my forever family.

I'm about 2 years old, weigh 23 pounds, and I'm a handsome Schnauzer mix with a heart that's even bigger than my adorable beard.

My favorite thing in the whole world? People! I absolutely love being with my humans. If you're sitting on the couch, you'll probably find me snuggled up beside you—or, if you'll allow it, happily curled up right in your lap. I would do best with a family where someone is home most of the time because I just love being part of whatever you're doing.

I'm already housebroken and I'm a total gentleman in my crate. Car rides? Count me in! Whether we're running errands or heading out on an adventure, I'm always happy to ride shotgun.

I also LOVE other dogs! Having a playful canine sibling would be a dream come true because I can romp and wrestle for hours. I'll play with toys once in a while, but honestly, I'd much rather play with a dog friend or soak up all the attention from my favorite people.

As for cats...well, that's still a mystery! I haven't had a chance to meet any yet, so we're not sure how I'd feel about them.

I've already had a rough start in life, but you would never know it from my happy spirit and wagging tail. Now all I need is a family to love, a cozy couch to share, and plenty of belly rubs.

Could that family be yours? I promise to bring lots of smiles, endless snuggles, and enough love to fill your heart every single day.

All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped.
The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only.
