Simba's Story

Simba: The Gentleman with a Soft Spot for Car Rides

Meet Simba, a 10-year-old Brussels Griffon mix with about 20 pounds of scruffy charm—and the personality of a retired movie star who's not afraid to send his meal back twice. He’s got the soul of a moody poet, the swagger of someone who’s lived a life, and plenty of opinions about how things should be.

Simba enjoys the finer things in life: leisurely walks, scenic car rides (his absolute favorite), and the occasional cuddle—but only on his terms. Affection is a privilege, not a right, and Simba is very clear about when it’s cuddle o’clock.

He gets along well with other dogs and would likely be fine with cats—as long as they respect his space and don’t touch his toys. Sharing is not in Simba’s vocabulary. Treats and toys are sacred objects, and he prefers to enjoy them solo, thank you very much.

Because of his strong sense of self and well-defined boundaries, Simba would do best in a home without small children or frequent young visitors. He’s looking for a calm, respectful household that understands love sometimes comes with a little side-eye and a whole lot of sass.

If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a dog with character, quirks, and a hidden soft side, Simba might just be your perfect match. He’s currently holding court at the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, waiting for someone who speaks fluent “Simba.”

If you would like to meet this great old dog in person, please contact The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs to arrange a meeting. The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs holds Adoption Sunday on the last Sunday of the month (excluding holidays) from 2-4 PM at our Adoption & Education Center, 4860 Broadview Road in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. Drop by to meet our adoptable dogs. You just might find a new old friend!

Old Dogs, Great Friends!
