Sierra-ADOPTED!'s Story
Sierra is a 10 month old black and gold German Shepherd. This girl is as smart as she is pretty. Sierra is extremely high energy so she will need a home where she gets plenty of exercise and lots of distractions. Ideally, she should have a canine companion and a human companion that can spend lots of time with her and offer her opportunities to learn new things. Due to spending too much time confined to small spaces, Sierra is not a dog that should be crated or left along in a small backyard.

When we first received Sierra, she exhibited some obsessive/compulsive behavior from being confined, but the open space at her foster home, the distraction of a bunch of dogs and being welcome in the house has seen most of that disappear. So environmental conditions will be important when finding her a new home.

At this time, Sierra gets along well with all the dogs in her foster home, although we have noticed some occasions when she asserts herself. Sierra could easily become an alpha female so any canine companion would need to put up with her bossy ways. Sierra has a strong prey drive and loves to chase anything that flies - from fireflies to birds, so we think she wouldn't tolerate cats too well either.

Sierra is very sociable, rides well in a car, could use some leash work and is housebroken. Very small children might have trouble negotiating around this high-energy girl, but Sierra does like children and seems quite adaptable to new situations. She is spayed and current on her vet work.

We require that all potential adopters submit a pre-adoption application before we can arrange for them to meet any of our dogs. The format for the application is located at the bottom of our homepage (goodshepherd.petfinder.org)
