Shupak's Story

Shupak has a very special story so we've asked each of his foster moms to write a bio about him. Here is what the first foster mom stated about him:

Shupak is a sweet, goofy young guy who had a tough start in life. He was taken away from his mom way to soon, unsocialized and isolated for most of his life. Luckily, he is out of that bad situation and has a happy life ahead of him. Shupak, is in foster care currently learning how to “dog”. He will need an owner willing to work with him on basic training and socializing. He has come such a long way in a short amount of time and is a very smart boy. Homeward Bownd will contribute $1200 to the cost of professional training lessons for Shupak so he can reach his full potential.
Shupak tends to prefer men. He would do best in a home with older kids who understand his needs. He loves other dogs but is still learning appropriate playing, so slow introductions are suggested.
With some love and patience, Shup will be such an amazing dog. He is funny and snuggly and makes the best husky noises I’ve ever heard!

This from his 2nd foster mom (who has him now):

Shupak (14 month-old, male) is a typical young husky - energetic, expressive, and lovable, with a stubborn and mischievous streak. He is house trained, but still working on crate training and walking on leash. He’s great with other dogs - big and small - and also cat-friendly. Shupak would do best in a home with a doggie playmate who can also help show him the ropes.
Just like people, every dog has a story to tell, and Shupak might just tell you all about it! He’ll also sing for his dinner. But if you’re too slow with the food bowl he’ll let you know! This guy has a broad vocabulary of grumbles, howls, moans and groans and sometimes it can be hard to tell his happy groans from his unhappy grumbles.
I think older kids would be ok. But definitely not little kids, as they like to pull and grab and I don’t think that would go over well with Shupak
