Shrimp's Story

Meet Shrimp

At about 10 pounds and 2 years old, Shrimp may be tiny, but he has a BIG personality! This fluffy little guy is a Chihuahua/Pomeranian/Poodle/Dachshund/Cocker Spaniel mix, and he somehow managed to collect a little bit of every breed’s personality.

Shrimp is a goofy, playful, affectionate, food-motivated little guy who absolutely loves his people. Once he is comfortable with you, he is a total cuddle bug and an excellent couch buddy. He loves to wrestle and play with his foster dog siblings, and he has settled into a home with multiple dogs very well. He can be a little pushy with his canine friends and prefers to keep his high-value bones and toys to himself, so he will need appropriate management around resources and dogs who don’t respect his space if he goes to a home with other dogs.

He is also a sensitive guy. Shrimp has a history of leash reactivity and can become anxious when he feels overwhelmed, so he needs an adopter who understands that his behavior is best handled with calm, confident guidance rather than fear or confrontation. In his foster home, he has been walking well on a collar or slip lead with structure and consistency.

He can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but he warms up beautifully. Once he decides you’re okay, he’ll happily come over for pets and attention. He is not a dog who needs to be handled like a fragile object. He actually does best when his person is confident, predictable, and willing to give him clear expectations.

Shrimp is potty trained, kennel trained, and comfortable being handled and picked up. He’s also Embark DNA tested!

Because he does best with routine, structure, and room to decompress, a house with a securely fenced yard would be ideal for him. An apartment may not be the best fit unless his adopter is particularly knowledgeable and prepared to continue working with and managing his reactivity.

Shrimp isn’t looking for a home that expects him to be perfect right out of the gate. He’s looking for someone who will understand him, give him structure, and let him continue building confidence.

In exchange, you’ll get a hilarious little fluffball who wants nothing more than to play, eat snacks, wrestle with his friends, and curl up next to his person on the couch or in bed.

Shrimp is current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $200.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Shrimp, please fill out our application.
