Shorty's Story

Shorty is here to prove that the best things really do come in short, squatty, scruffy packages. He has adorable wiry hair, (perfect for styling a mohawk), short, low to the ground legs, and a big personality! We aren’t sure of his breed mix. He is around 1 year old and weighs 24#.

Shorty is a social butterfly. At the vet, he made it his personal mission to greet every single staff member like they were long lost friends. Shorty is house trained, crate trained, dog friendly, and already knows “sit”… when he feels like it 😉. He’s a smart little dude, but he does have a bit of an independent streak.

Shorty LOVES an adventure and to ruuuuunnnn! He’ll happily zoom around the yard for 15–20 minutes, burn off that energy, and then trot inside to relax nearby like the sweet little sidekick he is. A fenced yard is going to be his happy place.

Shorty enjoys enrichment toys, a good game of fetch, and chewing on bully sticks like it’s his full time job. Stuffy toys beware! He has defluffed one or six… He casually stashes his favorite treasures in couch cushions or under his bed for safekeeping. On leash, he’s strong and enthusiastic, so he’ll need some continued work learning leash walking.

In a home with a lot of activity or multiple dogs, Shorty can get overstimulated and has a harder time settling. Because of that, he’ll do best in a home that can give him structure, outlets for his energy, and a little space to decompress when he needs it.

Shorty is the kind of dog that makes life a little more entertaining, and a lot more full of love.

Shorty is neutered, current on vaccines and prevention, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300. To meet him, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt. As a reminder, we are not a shelter location and require a scheduled meet and greet.

Adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities. All pets currently in the home must be routinely kept up to date on shots, prevention and fixed to be approved for adoption.
