Shiva (Reduced Rover)'s Story
SHIVA - The Dog Who Walks Between Chaos and Grace

4 years 65 lbs Greyhound/Golden Retriever Constellation

Some souls are born ordinary.
Shiva was not.

She carries the duality of her namesake: destroyer of fear and guardian of peace. She is affectionate, deeply intelligent, and tuned into humans with an almost spiritual precision. Her presence feels like the moment before a mantra is spoken.

Shiva thrives with structure and purpose. She is fully house-trained and crate-trained, and knows place, heel, come, out, on/off, routine, and rhythm. She follows direction like ritual, and will sometimes obey before the command is spoken. Offer a quick reset and she aligns again-steady and grounded.

She loves people, is gentle with respectful children, and enjoys having a "job" to do. She thinks beside you, works beside you, and settles when expectations are clear. She may occasionally test a boundary-not to defy you, but to understand the rules of the world-but with consistent reinforcement she returns to balance.

Her reactivity has shifted from storm into weather: improving, interruptible, and increasingly calm. She can walk past many dogs cleanly, and when another barks at her, the reaction is brief and redirectable. With cats, squirrels, and small animals she is curious but manageable. She wants connection with other dogs, but still learns social cues, so she is best as an only pet or with a calm, confident dog.

Her energy is moderate-bursts of joy followed by long stretches of peace. Two structured walks and mental engagement keep her centered and serene.

Shiva doesn't just learn-she evolves. She will thrive with someone who values routine, mindful handling, and growth. She is the dog who brings order to the noise, the companion who changes the atmosphere, the moment a house becomes something sacred.

PLEASE READ BELOW:

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application.
*An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application*
All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily.
