SHINZO's Story
Meet Shinzo 💖

Hi! I’m Shinzo, which means “heart” in Japanese — and I truly live up to my name. I have a big, loyal heart and love nothing more than being close to my people. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who wants to be part of everything you do, I might be your girl!

I’m a smart, affectionate, and active pup who thrives with a good balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time. I love running and playing outside, especially with my foster brother Pickle, a 2-year-old bully dog. We run laps, wrestle, and then crash hard together afterward. I play well with other dogs and really enjoy canine companionship — though I do like to be the center of attention sometimes (I came from a single-dog home, after all).

One of my superpowers is my excellent recall — both indoors and outdoors. Even exciting distractions (like a loose chicken!) don’t usually break my focus. I’m eager to please, highly attentive, and love learning. That said… if you turn your head for a second, your hot dog might mysteriously disappear. 😇

I can be gentle and respectful with calm cats, but energetic cats make me a little anxious — I don’t always understand that hisses and swats mean “back off,” so I’ll do best with dog-savvy or low-key cats, or in a cat-free home.

Because I may be a Huntaway mix! Huntaway dogs are a mix of different sheepdog breeds, such as Border Collie and German Shepherd, as well as other large breeds like Labrador and Rottweiler. The crossbreed originated in New Zealand and is most commonly used for general sheep-herding tasks. I like to herd & make it my job to herd the cats in the my foster household! I am also people-focused, loyal, and happiest when I have a job or purpose, whether that’s playtime, training, or just sticking close to my human. I’ll do best in a home that enjoys being active and has time to give me the attention and engagement I crave.

Shinzo is 3 1/2 years old, weighs 68 lbs, is spayed, vaccinated, Heartworm negative, on Heartworm & Flea prevention, microchipped & crate trained. We recommend children to be at least 8 years old. Shinzo may make a great addition to your family! If you are interested in Shinzo, please email us at streethearts.animal.rescue@gmail.com. We offer a 2 week trial period with all our dogs to make sure they are a good fit in their new home. You must be at least age 25 yrs old to adopt for our rescue. Thank you for your interest in Shinzo & for viewing her posting!
