SHINJI's Story

My First Taste of the Good Life
Meet Shinji- A+ for Adventure

I had the BEST day! I got to leave the shelter for a Barks & Rec adventure, and wow—there is a whole world out there!

My humans took me to a park, then to their house where I got to explore a big backyard, and we even took a stroll around the neighborhood. I got an A+ on my report card! They said I walked nicely on leash (as nicely as a pup can!) and was an excellent car rider. In fact, they said I rode VERY well!

I was friendly, polite, excited, and sometimes a little shy while taking in all the new sights and experiences. I'm still learning about this big, busy world, but I'm trying my best. I'm also absolutely adorable, according to my humans—and who am I to argue?

I can be a little anxious around men, but I warm up with time and patience. I did great with the 8- and 10-year-old kids, too!

I'm a sweet pup who just needs someone willing to help me discover how wonderful life outside the shelter can be. I'm ready for my next adventure—and hopefully, this one ends with a forever home!

Shinji recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine. He wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, he’ll be ready to show us his silly side with other dogs. He's currently sharing his shelter suite with a friend he came to the shelter with. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out his playgroup video here:

To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!
