Shiloh - cross post's Story

Shilo
DOB 12/27/24 (approx 1 year old)
Neutered male
Australian Cattle Dog mix, Fully vetted upon adoption

Shilo is a sweet, fun-size Australian Cattle Dog mix who has come a long way from his scary start. When he first arrived at a high-kill shelter, he was cowering and shaking, with no foster or rescue lined up. A private rescuer stepped in, and Shilo has blossomed in a loving home over the last couple of months.

Dogs: Shilo absolutely adores other dogs! They give him confidence and comfort, and he thrives in their company. He will need a dog in his future forever home to thrive. He is currently fostered with several and absolutely loves his playful senior female shepherd friend! He also occasionally convinces the other two mixed breed pups that playing is fun. Otherwise, he will just leave them alone and let them be.

Cats: Shilo is curious about cats...he sniffs them and checks them out...but shows no aggression at all. He currently cohabitates with around 7 or so kitties.

Humans: Shilo is very shy and afraid of most things. He's hand-shy with new visitors but loves his trusted humans deeply. His bonds with people he knows are strong and loyal, and he's learning that new experiences don't have to be scary. Upon meeting Shiloh... its unlikely that you will be besties. He will need someone who can be slow and patient and knows that time is all thats needed for him to learn to love you. Because of this, its likely a better fit for Shiloh to be with no kiddos, or older kiddos. But Shiloh hasn't been around kids while being with his current foster human, so we are open to him meeting kiddos and seeing how he reacts and talking about if its potentially worth it to try a trial adoption. Sometimes super shy dogs end up surprising us and BLOSSOMING around tiny humans... other times... shy dogs continue to be extra shy around tiny humans. Sometimes you never know until you try it! (Safely)

Energy Level: Shilo is high-energy and full of curiosity...he's never calm except when he's afraid. He's hyper, playful, and always moving, so an active home is a must!

Training: Shilo is still working on basic commands like sit, stay, and down, as well as overall dog manners. He's a quick learner when given patience and consistency, and his foster family is helping him gain confidence and skills every day.
Shilo's perfect forever home will be patient, loving, and experienced with shy, high-energy dogs. With time, trust, and guidance, he will continue to blossom into the loyal, playful, and affectionate companion he's meant to be.

Please reach out to Pitties and Kitties Rescue for more information on how to adopt Shiloh. Since Shiloh is not a pitty, we are cross posting him for now.
