Shiloh's Story

AGE: 4 years

SEX: Female

BREED: Northern Mix

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

DOG FRIENDLY: Yep!

CAT FRIENDLY?: Untested

KID FRIENDLY?: Yep!

Meet Shiloh! This beautiful girl has blossomed into a much more confident, playful, and affectionate dog who is ready to find a family of her own. She loves being close to her people, happily seeking out pets and affection, and her playful personality has really started to shine. She especially loves her morning play sessions, long sniffy walks, and a good bully stick. She also has the most adorable husky yodel to greet the day! Shiloh has a sneaky side, too, and thinks hiding her people’s shoes is a pretty fun game.

Shiloh has come a long way with her confidence and is now much more comfortable meeting new people and experiencing the world around her. She may still take a moment to warm up in some new situations, but she is increasingly curious and happy to engage. She currently lives with another dog, and the two have become quite the pair, regularly play-fighting, chasing each other around, and generally having a great time together. She enjoys seeing other dogs on walks and would likely do well with another medium or large dog who enjoys having a playful companion. She has also met children and has been wonderfully gentle with them, though a home with kids who understand dog boundaries would be ideal. Shiloh is now house trained and generally settles well at home, although she can be tempted to chew on things that aren’t meant for her. Providing appropriate chews and toys, along with a little redirection when needed, will help her make good choices. She also settles nicely in her crate after a little encouragement at bedtime.

Shiloh is still learning about some of the busier parts of the world and can be nervous around traffic, cars, and unfamiliar environments, but her confidence has improved tremendously with patience and positive experiences. As she’s become more confident, she has also started pulling a little more on leash, so she’ll need continued guidance and training to help her channel her enthusiasm on walks. She loves taking her time to sniff and explore and has a strong prey drive toward small animals, so she’ll also need continued management in this area. Overall, Shiloh has transformed into a much more confident and playful girl while still being the sweet, gentle companion she has always been. If you're looking for a loving dog who enjoys both cuddles and a good play session, Shiloh may be the perfect addition to your family!

Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Shiloh? New Collar Collective's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Complete and submit an adoption application. All applications will be screened, and applicants will receive an email response letting you know whether your application has been approved to move to the next step in our process or not. If you have not received a response from us, first check your spam/junk folder before sending us an email. 2. You will be asked to submit two personal references, and a vet reference where applicable, as part of our process. Please make sure to let them know that they may be contacted by one of our volunteers. Veterinarian clinics will require your permission to share any information with our team. 3. A phone interview will be scheduled with one of our adoption coordinators via email or phone. 4. Your adoption coordinator will connect with one of our volunteers to schedule a home visit. Home visits will be completed virtually or in-person depending on available resources. If a virtual home visit is completed and there are any outstanding questions or concerns, New Collar Collective reserves the right to do a follow up (in person) home visit. Volunteers conducting virtual home visits will be required to direct the home visit so we are assured they have seen all areas of the home. Volunteers conducting in-person home visits will be encouraged to bring a friend along for their safety. In this case, you will be notified in advance. 5. A meet & greet will be coordinated with the animal’s foster. All members of the household (including dogs) will be required to attend the meet and greet. 6. Post meet & greet If there are no further questions or concerns, applicants will contact their adoption’s coordinator to let them know if they would like to move forward with the adoption. Adopters will be contacted to provide all contract requirements. ADOPTION POLICIES The policies outlined below are guidelines and there may be instances where an exception can be made upon the agreement of the adoption management/Board of Directors. Periodically, New Collar Collective will revisit these guidance policies to ensure they still meet the intended needs of the rescue. We do not adopt to applicants who live outside of our adoption radius. We do not ship dogs. Adopters are responsible for picking up their newly adopted pet. All pets in your household must be spayed and neutered. All pets in your household must be up to date with mandatory vaccinations. We do not allow applicants to test out a cat/dog before adoption. We expect that applicants will take the necessary time to meet with the dog or cat, talk with the foster, and ask lots of questions. Our rescues have already been through so much, we feel it is in their best interest that trials do not occur. *Exception for Foster-to-Adopt applicants All members of the household must be present during the Home Visit and the Meet and Greet. We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 4. The full adoption fee is due at the time of adoption. We do not offer payment plans.
