And that was just the beginning of Shawn’s extraordinary journey.<br/><br/>Shawn is now 8 months old and weighs 25 pounds. He has already traveled thousands of miles from Kosovo to New Hampshire, all because a few compassionate people believed he deserved a chance at a better life.<br/><br/>Shawn is a very timid boy who needs time, patience, and a gentle approach to feel safe. But beneath that shyness is a sweet pup who enjoys the company of other dogs and loves being held by people. Those quiet moments of closeness are especially precious for a little dog who has had such an uncertain start in life. With a loving family willing to let him build confidence at his own pace, Shawn has every opportunity to discover the joys of being a cherished companion.<br/><br/>Sadly, for the hundreds of puppies born on the streets of Kosovo, rescue is an exceptionally rare gift. Finding food and shelter is difficult enough, and finding a loving forever family can seem almost impossible. Even dogs fortunate enough to be rescued rarely get the opportunity to come to the United States. International travel requires a human escort, and many people in Kosovo face financial hardship and simply don't have the opportunity to make that journey.<br/><br/>But Shawn was twice lucky!<br/><br/>First, he and his family were found and given a chance to survive. Then, a wonderful woman who works at the US embassy in Kosovo offered to help by escorting dogs to America when she traveled here. Thanks to her kindness, Shawn was able to leave his difficult beginnings behind and make his way to New Hampshire.<br/><br/>Now this young boy has a chance at something every dog deserves: a family of his very own.<br/><br/>At just 8 months old, Shawn has so much life ahead of him. A home with another friendly dog could help him feel more secure as he adjusts, while patient and loving people can show him that he no longer has to be afraid. He deserves to grow up knowing the comfort of a loving home, the security of a family who will never abandon him, and the joy of being someone's cherished companion.<br/><br/>It's hard to imagine how many dogs just like Shawn will never get this opportunity.
