Sharpool's Story
Sharpool is a sweet, 9-pound, 8-year-old Chihuahua who is learning to feel safe and loved. When he arrived at FFF from South LA Shelter, he was very fearful. Thanks to the patience and dedication of his foster family over the past several months, Sharpool has been slowly taking steps towards blossoming into the happy, confident pup he deserves to be!

In his foster home, Sharpool (nicknamed Scooter) has made progress adjusting to life in a home. He sleeps through the night, and during the day, Sharpool enjoys hanging out in his cozy dog bed at the top of the stairs with his Shiba Inu foster brother, who he is very attached to and follows around the house and yard. He also enjoys cruising around the back yard, taking naps in the sun, and playing with his Lamb Chop stuffed toy.

Sharpool is currently working on crate training, walking on a leash, and overcoming his fear of being handled. His foster mom shared what a day in the life of Sharpool is like:

"Scooter shakes his collar to wake me. He dances around while he waits for breakfast. He eats breakfast in his own space away from my other two dogs because they are chow hounds. Scooter likes to watch the action in the house from the top of the stairs with my Shibu and his Lamb Chop toy.

In the morning, my husband and I will do some mat training with Scooter to encourage him to hand feed and go in a large dog kennel. We are slowly working up to touching him which he currently isn't comfortable with and runs away after any contact.

When our Shiba Inu goes for a walk, I do some training with Scooter and walk him around the yard on a leash. He has gotten much better, but I still can't take him off the property without some panic on his part. When we walk our dogs in the evening, Scooter waits at the top of steps until we return. He is excited when we come back and dances for treats with the others.

Scooter is generally relaxed and happy in his safe spots--our house and the back yard and following my Shibu around. He is much more intimidated by my husband for no apparent reason and we are working on that. We are working with an animal behaviorist and that is helping greatly but it is a very slow process. Scooter is extremely food motivated, and that helps too, especially bacon and cheese.

Stay tuned for more updates!"

To meet this very special boy, please email:
placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
