Meet Your New Shadow!<br/> <br/>Shadow has been someone's shadow for nearly nine years... he had a person to follow, a home to call his own, and a life he knew and loved. When his owner passed away, Shadow suddenly found himself without the person who had been his whole world. With no one left to care for him, this magnificent boy joined the Serendipity pack, and now he’s looking for someone new to follow home.<br/><br/>Shadow comes from a European working line of German Shepherds and is an impressive 100-pound, tall-build, strikingly handsome boy. But don't let his size fool you. He's a big dog with a surprisingly easygoing personality. Despite his size and working-line heritage, Shadow is on the low-energy side and is perfectly happy to hang out with his people. He also has a favorite pastime: his Kong. He carries it around —and apparently, it's important enough that it goes to bed with him, too. He enjoys a game of fetch, but after a couple of rounds, he’s ready to call it quits and take a nap.<br/><br/>Shadow has spent his life as a house dog and was trusted with free run of the house by his previous owner. He's housetrained, kennel trained, loves car rides, and has been around children his entire life—and loves them! He can be vocal, but don't mistake his voice for aggression. He's not aggressive with strangers, whether they're people or dogs. He can be a little pushy with dogs under 30 pounds, so small dogs aren't a good match. We believe he could potentially share his home with another large dog, but a meet and greet would be required. Because of his prey drive, we don't recommend a home with cats.<br/><br/>Shadow is a dog with manners! He has extensive obedience training and knows several commands. He walks beautifully on leash and has excellent recall when off leash. Tell him to stay by your side, and he'll do exactly that. In fact, staying close to his person seems to be one of Shadow's favorite things to do—which makes his name feel pretty fitting.<br/><br/>At this stage of his life, Shadow doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. He's already learned his manners, knows his commands, loves his toys, enjoys a good car ride, and has spent his life being a loyal companion. What he needs now is someone willing to look past the number on his birthday and see the magnificent, devoted German Shepherd underneath it. <br/><br/>Shadow qualifies for our Seniors FUREVER program, with two available options:<br/><br/>(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $400, and this becomes a perpetual fee. You can adopt another SGSDR senior dog at any time from us in the future at NO CHARGE.<br/><br/>(2) If you aren't sure about your future adoption capacity, you may adopt your SGSDR senior dog for a reduced adoption fee of $250
