Name: Seth

Age or Date of Birth: Approx 11 months old as of 4/25/21

Activity Level: High

Things I do in my free time: I enjoy chewing on every single one of the toys/bones available to me (especially peanut butter filled kongs), play with humans, go for walks, sometimes snuggle

Things I mostly know: Sit, down, yes/no and stay with limited distractions, loose leash walking inside the house while working, “It’s Your Choice”

Things I am learning/currently working on: Not jumping, stay with distractions or in excited mode, loose leash walking while outside or in excited mode, learning to chill out and reduce mouthy-ness when in an excited state

Who I currently live with (humans and animals): 2 human adults, 1 adult male dog, 1 adult female dog

How I do with kids: Very excited; will knock over small children and chase them; we will require children to be 10+ years old

How I do with dogs: Meh, OK. I still have some manners to learn while interacting with other dogs (see more below). I would love to be an only dog (at least until I speak better dog).

How I do with cats: Unknown - but based on my excitement level especially with kids and dogs, I probably would not be the best candidate to live with cats

My current size: ~40 pounds; I am petite but have thick paws so I will likely fill out more

How I do in my kennel: Very good. Will sometimes whine for 1-2 minutes at first but then I settle down and am quiet for the rest of the day/night. Have had no accidents in the crate.

How I do in car rides: Ride pretty well; either in the crate or in the backseat. Sometimes I try to get up front which isn’t allowed by my peoples but will eventually just lay down.

Am I house trained?: Mostly. The humans still bring me out frequently, especially upon significant transitions in activities and after meals, etc. to avoid any opportunities for accidents in the house.

Additional Info from foster: Seth is a seriously handsome, sweet, petite little man. However, at his age he currently has very high energy and is sort of in that teenage puppy phase where he needs to learn and solidify his manners. It will be very important for him to have a strong leader who is motivated to provide consistent training and structure to help him become a great pittie ambassadog! For the most part he is fine sticking to himself while playing with toys, but he does not always listen appropriately when another dog tells him to leave them alone. For example, when our adult dogs growl at him to get out of their face, he sometime associates that as play and will get amped up; when our dogs walk away and ignore him, he does a better job at leaving them alone. He will do best with slower introductions if there are other dogs in his resident home and will require supervised and structured play time with other dogs. So far, he does not show signs of resource guarding, but we are always supervising the dog interactions to ensure things don’t get out of hand. Seth is very eager to please you and wants to be near his person(s) all the time, but we are working on trying to establish boundaries to ensure he does not become overprotective of us. We try to keep a leash on him at all times in the house so that we can continue to teach him manners and show him what we expect of him, but he likes to try to chew on it at times when he is feeling mouthy. Overall, Seth has the potential to be an amazing dog, but he will need someone who is willing to commit and follow through with being his leader in order for that to be successful.
