This handsome man has fully embraced two things in life: loving his people and committing deeply to the art of relaxation. <br/><br/>Sergio had a human and a whole life built on love: shared couch space, familiar routines, the comfort of belonging somewhere without question. And then, through no fault of his own, that life slipped out from under him when his owner couldn’t care for him any longer. <br/><br/>Sergio is affectionate, devoted, loyal, and a professional sunbather. If there is a patch of sunlight anywhere in your home or yard, he will find it, settle into it, and remain there like a tiny, content lizard soaking up the warmth. When he’s not working on his tan, he would very much prefer to be in your lap, beside you on the couch, or generally within close proximity to his favorite humans at all times.<br/><br/>Sergio is the kind of dog who bonds hard and loves deeply. He thrives when his people are nearby and will be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time to keep him company. He can get a little vocal when left alone at first (what we like to call a brief “old man protest”) but he does settle in after a bit and is not destructive. He simply has some feelings about being left behind and believes you should hear them.<br/><br/>In true senior chihuahua fashion, Sergio comes with a delightful mix of charm and quirks. He loves soft food, cozy blankets, sunny spots, and being as close to you as physically possible. He is also a talented interior designer who enjoys pulling items into his crate and rearranging them into what can only be described as ever-evolving “nest concepts.” Additionally, he has mastered the advanced skill of burrito-ing himself completely under blankets with no assistance, which is both impressive and slightly mysterious.<br/><br/>Sergio would do best in a calm, quiet home with a fenced yard where he can explore, sniff, and roll around in the grass to his heart's content. He is good with other dogs and with people of all ages, including children, but his overall vibe is low-key and he will be happiest in a home that matches that energy. He is not a fan of car rides and finds thunderstorms and fireworks very stressful, so he will need a family that can help him feel safe and comforted in those moments.<br/><br/>He may occasionally mark indoors while settling into a new environment so a belly band can be helpful for the first few daysat the start can be helpful, but this is not a constant issue. He walks nicely on leash, navigates stairs just fine, and mostly wants a soft place to land and people to love.<br/><br/>Sergio came in with a mass, which has since been removed. We await the results of the biopsy with paws crossed. <br/><br/>Sergio is not asking for much.
