Sergio's Story

Sergio is a sweet and sensitive 2-year-old looking for a family that understands trust takes time. Sergio does best when allowed to set the pace with new people. Slow, thoughtful introductions and a predictable routine have helped him gain confidence, and he'll thrive with a family committed to continuing that approach.

Because strangers can make him nervous, he'll appreciate a home that advocates for his space and doesn't expect him to greet every visitor. He's also most comfortable in a quieter neighborhood, as unfamiliar people and dogs can feel overwhelming on walks. Rain and thunderstorms can also make him anxious, so having a cozy place to relax during storms goes a long way.

Sergio loves fetch, toys, and soaking up affection from the people he knows best. Once he's comfortable, his playful, goofy personality shines, and he's happiest spending time with his favorite humans. Positive reinforcement training, enrichment, and consistency have helped Sergio blossom, and they'll continue to build his confidence in a home.

If you're willing to let him settle in at his own pace, you'll discover a deeply affectionate, fun-loving dog who forms incredible bonds with the people he trusts.

Thinking about adopting Sergio?
