Selma's Story

Personality: Incredibly sweet and loving!

Education: Good with bathroom, crate and leash training

Favorite Activities: Cuddling, going on walks, sniffing plants and flowers, rolling in grass, sunbathing, going in car rides to the beach or in nature, getting treats!

Looking For: A mellow home with lots of love and cuddles!

Special Needs/Concerns: She is blind but doing just fine! She does remarkably well! You can alert her to stairs with 'step' and people approaching with 'friend'.

Bio: A complete angel!

Hi, friends! My name is Selma, and I'm a 6-year-old Spaniel Mix female, weighing in at 65 pounds. I've been hanging out with my foster parents since being rescued by TAP, and I can't wait to find my furever home!

In my past life, I roamed the streets of Mexicali, and at the time I was found, both of my eyes were protruding and I needed medical intervention. Thankfully, I got the help I so desperately needed, but I lost both of my eyes in the process. Though I am blind now, I am the happiest and sweetest girl. I can be alerted to stairs with 'step' and people approaching with 'friend'. I'm just so grateful to have gotten this second chance.

My favorite activities are cuddling, taking walks, and sticking to my daily routine. I'm kid-friendly, and I'm incredibly loving to any human I meet. I am not a big fan of other dogs anymore. I am social in restaurants and cafes and I do well, as long as dogs don't close in on me. I'm crate, leash, and potty-trained, too, and I don't have any symptoms of separation anxiety. I've also already been spayed.

My ideal home would be, well, anywhere! I'm an easy-going, low-energy gal, and would do best in any environment where I received lots of affection and love. She will do great in a home with a cozy sunbathing spot.

Do we sound like a match? My adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please apply!

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
