Sebastian is a 10-month-old Yorkie/Chihuahua mix weighing just 5.5 pounds, and this tiny guy is everything you’d expect a happy puppy to be. He’s playful, curious, sweet, and ready to discover what this whole big world is about. At his age, just about everything has the potential to become an adventure, and Sebastian is happy to participate! Because Sebastian is a brand-new arrival at Canine Castaways, we’re still getting to know him. We haven’t discovered all his favorite things, funny quirks, or exactly what his grown-up personality will be just yet. What we do know is that he’s a happy little puppy who’s ready to learn, play, love, and grow up with a family of his own. Like any puppy, Sebastian will need a family prepared for all the work that comes along with raising a youngster, including continued house training, leash skills, basic manners, and plenty of opportunities to learn and socialize. We are only considering homes in our local area - 1 hour or less from Arcadia FL. If you have adopted from us before and are slightly out of that area, please contact us directly and we can discuss it. Sebastian still needs to be neutered. All appointments for neuter surgery will be done at our vet's office in Arcadia so you must be willing to bring him to his appointment in order to be considered for adoption. Canine Castaways's Adoption Policy

Once your application is received, it will be forwarded to a volunteer to set up a home visit and check your references. It is important that all applicants understand that it is the policy of Canine Castaways, Inc. that all pets in a possible adoptive home be spayed/neutered prior to adoption unless there is a medical reason for not doing so and have an excellent veterinary history with your current/past pets. Once you are approved for a dog, you will be invited to meet the dog at a date and time convenient to the foster family or at an adoption event. Our goal is to place healthy, well-adjusted dogs. All of our dogs are vet checked including spayed or neutered; heartworm tested (preventive dispensed if negative and treatment started if positive); up to date on vaccinations (rabies, parvo, distemper); basic blood test performed; urinalysis; placed on flea/tick preventative if needed; intestinal parasite exam performed and treated accordingly; and provided with any other medical care necessary (dentals, surgeries, etc). All dogs have a numbered stainless steel Canine Castaways ID tag and are also microchipped for permanent identification. All vet records are provided to the adopter along with the remainder of the 6 month supply of heartworm preventive dispensed. Our adoption donation, which is normally $300 for an adult dog or $400 for a puppy, is to help offset these veterinary expenses. We also have reduced donations for senior dogs 8 years and older ($150). Our adoption contract allows for a dog to be returned within 30 calendar days for a full refund regardless of the reason; otherwise, all donations are non-refundable after that time. If any significant pre-existing undiagnosed medical problems arise within the first month after adoption, Canine Castaways will pay for treatment at Fur-Ever Friends in Arcadia. If for any reason you decide you no longer can keep your adopted dog, the dog MUST be returned to Canine Castaways.
