Scruff's Story
Meet Scruff!

Scruff is a 17-lbs bundle of energy and love who was found near our vet’s office.

He’s about 1-1.5 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, and currently working on his basic manners with help from our certified trainer.

Foster update: Scruff is a high energy ball of zooms! He is a complete blast at his foster home (as his foster mom is ADORE's trainer). We would love to talk more with anyone interested in him. He has a ton of personality and needs a good amount of daily exercise and love to keep him happy. He is hilarious during training and operates every day at 98% excitement at all times (2% is when he focuses in).

He would do best with a formal meeting with new dogs, he is friendly and very playful, but it takes him a while to warm up to a new friend. He does well with cats if you entertain him and don't let him pester them (he throws his body into them to get them to play). He would not do well in dog parks as he does get overwhelmed in a crowd! Scruff is a bit too rough with young kids. He is working on not jumping up and scratching to get attention, but he is a work in progress. He also working on mouthiness. He is crate trained and working on some mild separation anxiety (it is not every day, but some days he does whine and scratch at the door his foster mom left from) crating him with a reward has improved this tenfold! He is 95% house trained, but has had an accident if left more than about 8 hours at a time.

He is very friendly towards new people when introduced to them and is learning friendly greetings (meaning he cannot jump up on them). He gives kisses and rolls over most of the time now.

Scruff has excelled in many ways, his biggest challenge with a new home will be his energy demands. Once he is able to sprint out the zooms, he is very sweet and cuddly. He is an awesome little guy and a great adventure buddy. If you have the time for him, he will make the most perfect addition to the family.

His foster mom would love to talk with an interested adopter!

Apply to foster or adopt through ADORE Houston!
www.adorehouston.com
