Scrappy (Pappy)'s Story

Pappy is an absolute dream and the sweetest boy.

I am writing to share more information about Pappy, a 16-year-old, 7 pound dog currently in the care of Lionel's Legacy. Pappy came to us after his previous owner transitioned into a nursing facility, and it is clear he was a very well loved member of his family.

Personality and Likes
Pappy is a sweet, snuggly couch potato who loves being petted, giving kisses, and watching TV with his person. He enjoys sniffing around the yard, riding in his doggy car seat, and sleeping rolled up in a blanket like a burrito. He gets along wonderfully with other small dogs and pays no mind to cats.

Behavior and Training
He is very well potty trained, walks great on a leash, and is well behaved during baths and nail trims. While he was initially distressed when left alone, he has settled in and is now fine while we are out. He is generally quiet, though he will alert bark if he hears someone at the door. He does not exhibit any resource guarding.

Health Status
Pappy is in good health for his age, though he has cataracts, he is scheduled for a dental 4/09/26. It is important to note that he has a history of collapsing trachea; therefore, maintaining his current healthy weight is vital for his heart and overall health. He occasionally coughs, but the vet has determined this does not currently require medication or further testing.

Ideal Home
Pappy would be an excellent companion for another calm dog. We recommend that he not be an only dog unless his owner is retired or works from home, as he thrives on companionship.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss Pappy further.Fill out an adoption application directly on our website at www.lionelslegacy.org
