Scrappy 's Story

Although Scrappy thought he had found his forever after, his Mommy's HOA owners have decided that he can't stay in their "club". So, he's unwillingly searching for a home without stupid rules... or at least fenced in yardage that doesn't allow neighbors an opinion. If you can give him the home he deserves, message us now.

We would like to introduce you all to Scrappy. This sweet boy was living the saddest of lives.
This petite, low-riding, boy was living outdoors, on a massive (but short) logging chain. For shelter, he had only a wooden dog house with no bedding or insulation. During the cold spell that we just had, Scrappy cried all night. He was recently adopted by the most caring soul. BUT due to her HOA, even though he's within the size requirements, they do not want a pitty there. As devistated as his new mommy is, she isn't able too move homes right now. This dog is desperate for help.

Scrappy's age is unknown but is estimated to be between 3-3 1/2 years old. He is neutered, HW-, and in prevention meds. He has always enjoyed other cats and dogs, when meeting unrestricted and given time to warm up to others. He shows some fear when meeting through crates and fences, but he's fine on tether and leash. He e needs a loving home. He's wanted that for so long. In his current foster home, he rarely barks (except when first put into the crate-but that's improving as he's learning the routine), sleeps all night, and doesn't chew on things in the house. He's smart and sits to wait for his food. He knows the command for sit and also does amazing on the leash when using a prong. He does well for baths also. He is house trained, crate trained ,and loves taking rides in the car.

*This is a community dog that was adopted by good friends up north. Due to the HOA, he isn't allowed to stay. Although we think HOA rules are lame, we are working to give Scrappy what he deserves. Although there is no fee to adopt, adopter will be required to get Scrappy up to date on vetting. He is up to date on everything but rabies and Distemper. He is heartworm negative.

Please let us know if you can help this sweet boy. Let's change his life!

Mayberry 4 Paws's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process starts with a 3 page application. We carefully check all vet history with phone calls and emails. If they pass that area, we check three references that have to be a mix of personal and professional as well as a check of their previous pet owner history. Lastly, if they are approved in all of these areas, there is a home inspection and interview completed. After adoption, there will be checks on the animal and its well-being, as well as calls in to the vet to ensure that they animal's health is being maintained and that the animal remains up to date on preventatives. If at any time an adoption does not work out, the dog has to return to our rescue.
