Scrabble's Story

WAITING ON THE FOSTER FOR MORE PHOTOS, BUT DIDN'T WANT TO DELAY GETTING THEIR BIOS COMPLETED

Born February 3, 2026, Scrabble joined Mattie's Place, June 12th, with his brother Squiggle after I picked them up from an absolutely horrendous backyard breeding situation.

He weighed in at 11 pounds on arrival.

They were filthy and scared and lacked any life skills. The breeding situation was so incredibly sad and I will not give up until all the dogs are out of the situation these boys came from.

Provincial Animal Welfare is involved in their case.

These boys have absolutely blossomed in foster care and quickly adapted to life as companion pets and welcomed the kindness and compassion they received and responded accordingly in foster care.

Scrabble will receive 2 further rounds of vaccines which includes rabies, at the cost of Mattie's Place. He will have his neuter completed in September, at the cost of Mattie's Place at our veterinarian in Unionville. This is non-negotiable. You must be able to drive him to his veterinary appointments.

Scrabble is still just a baby, so he will need someone home most often to help him learn and grow and blossom into a well mannered adult dog. An adopter prepared to invest in pet insurance is important as well. He will come home with 30 days of free pet insurance on adoption day.

Scrabble will require professional grooming on a regular basis, so be sure you have that budgeted in when considering adoption. A professional groom is about $100 - $150 and he'll require a groom every couple months.

Though not cat tested, he's such a gentle boy, I can't imagine he would not be friendly with a cat. Also not kid tested, but the same applies. He is in foster care with his brother and 2 resident dogs without issue.

Despite where he came from, Scrabble is a really amazing boy, ready to join his for-always family and begin his next chapter.

I don't know his adult weight, but presumably he'll fall into the 20 pound range.

FROM THE FOSTER:

The most adorable and goodest puppies ever!

Scrabble (white, long hair) is a pup always wanting to be near his person. He is vocal when he wants to eat and does not take NO for an answer.

Cuddling is his favourite time of day, next to playing with his littermate Squiggle, next to snuggling down in the fluffy bed beside everyone else.

He has mastered in no time jumping on the couch with his little legs so he can be with me.

He will definitely let you know when there is an unfamiliar noise not yet recognized- the best alarm to-date.

Both puppies are amazingly good with their potty. They spend the night together in the kitchen, quite content with each other. They are so young and yet, they've never had a potty accident.

They make themselves known around 6 am, whining a little. I let them out in the garden and they do their morning business. They check out the garden for any new smells and when called for breakfast, they come racing back immediately.

I have noticed that they do not eat during the day, so the next feeding is around 6 pm.

The evening is spent playing and watching TV! They are fascinated with the movement and noises coming from this box on the wall. Of course, they voice their opinions about the program. Animals are preferred.

They love being groomed and hold very still so I can do a proper job brushing their coats.

They are let out around 11 pm for their last potty and then it's off to bed with bowls of food for overnight nibbling. Often one bowl is empty in the morning.

So, another fabulous day has arrived, full of new impressions for them to begin a new day.

----------------------------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leashcollar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.

----------------------------------------

Mattie's Place does not deem any dog in our care hypoallergenic, allergy-free or non-allergenic. Unless you are willing to take daily medication to manage dog allergies, please do not apply to adopt because I can't risk a dog being returned due to allergic reactions.
