DOB: 08/13/2025 • 16 kg

Scout is a soft, sensitive young dog who is still learning that the world is a safe and predictable place. Coming from a difficult start, he’s slowly gaining confidence and showing more of his sweet, goofy personality as he settles into home life.

In the home, Scout is affectionate and bonds quickly with his people. Once he feels safe, he loves being close and will quietly seek out connection and reassurance. He’s still quite fearful of the outside world, and new environments can feel overwhelming for him, so he needs time, patience, and a gentle approach to help him build confidence at his own pace.

He would do best in a calm home with easy access to a secure yard where he can decompress and slowly explore without pressure. A confident resident dog would be a huge bonus, as he learns a lot by observing other dogs and gains confidence through that steady companionship.

At this time, Scout can be a little vocal when left alone during crate training, so a home without shared-wall living (no apartments for now) would be best while he continues building his comfort and independence.

He’s intelligent, observant, and making steady progress with consistency and reassurance. While he’s still working on basics like leash confidence and potty training, every small step forward is meaningful for him.

Scout is looking for a patient, understanding home that will let him grow at his own pace. In return, he offers a deep, loyal bond and the kind of quiet affection that feels especially rewarding once trust is earned.

For an adoption application, please visit: https://straightouttarescuesociety.ca/dog-adoption-application
