Scout's Story
Please read about Scout before applying to adopt him as he needs a special home. Scout was surrendered to a good Samaritan after being a breeder for 6 years. Unfortunately, he was attacked by a much larger dog in his new home. The lack of socialization as a breeding dog kept in a cage constantly has made him afraid of people and the dog attack has made him afraid of large dogs. Scout has a lot of anxiety. He spends most of his time pacing the fenced in backyard. He allows himself to be picked up but does not enjoy being held. Scout is NOT a lap dog and may not ever be. He is also not yet house trained. We are working on this with belly bands but he does also prefer to poop indoors. He is a flight risk and absolutely has to have a secure fenced in yard as he panics on leash. With time, Scout will be able to have a normal doggy life. However, that may take a very long time and he needs owners who are willing to put in the time and work. He would benefit from a trainer and anxiety medication. Scout is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and vaccinated. He has had senior bloodwork and a dental cleaning.
