Scout Elf's Story

If you think Scout is the perfect match for you, you can fill out an online application at:
www.lilyspadrescue.org/adoption-form

1. What is your name? Scout

2. How old are you? Almost 4 months old

3. How much do you weigh? 22 lbs

4. How is your health? I’m a healthy pup, I just have a congenital condition called pectus excavatum, but that does not affect my current health. That will be explained when you talk to Miss Rachel at Lily’s Pad Rescue about me.

5. How’s your mobility? Do you use a fun wheelie cart? I am completely mobile and able to run zoomies.

6. What do you look like? I’m white and tan with freckles.

7. What do you like to eat? I am currently on Royal Canine’s Medium Breed Puppy kibble. Snacks? I’ll try anything once, but I have learned to like peanut butter.

8. What kind of personality do you have? I’m a silly puppy. I like to be the center of attention and I am very active.

9. Describe your perfect day: My day starts out with breakfast. Then I would play with my sibling or human, chew on some appropriate toys, then take a nap. Once I wake up, I would be able to play some more and maybe take another nap until late afternoon. Dinner would be high on my priority list after which I would play some more. Evenings are when I have my most energy, so maybe a walk or some time with my human throwing a toy for me or playing tuggies. I would like to then snuggle for a while on the couch while everyone else reads, plays video games or watches tv. An active doggy sibling would be ideal.

10. What is your favorite toy? Anything that squeaks.

11. Do you know any tricks? I don’t know any tricks that people would think are unusual, but I have learned sit, leave it, and most of the time come and out. I will play hard to get if I think I’m going in my house.

12. Is there anything that scares you? I’m still learning about the outdoors. Since I have been in my foster home, it has been rain, rain and more rain. However, when it is a little sunny, I am learning that being outside can be fun. The wind feels funny on my ears and sometimes the grass tickles me and makes me jump. If the other dogs suddenly get exited and start barking and running for the door, I get nervous because I don’t know what they are barking at. I’m afraid of new places, but some encouragement goes al long way.

13. Have you been around children? Do you like them? I have not been around children since I moved into my foster home. I would probably like older kids as my foster mom says I am still mouthy and younger children might get me in trouble.

14. Do you like cats? I don’t know, but if they would play and snuggle with me, I would love them.

15. How do you feel about other dogs? I LOVE other dogs. Because I am young and exuberant, I can be a little much for smaller dogs, especially if they are seniors. I like to play with anyone.

16. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? In a home where I am loved.

17. Who do you live with your foster home (kids, dogs, etc) and who is your closest companion? I live in a home with two humans, one foster Frenchie, and seven other small resident dogs. I am partial to one of the humans, but that is because she feeds me and cleans my house. She also lets me hang out with her if I am a good boy, which is most of the time. I love my Frenchie foster sister. She is paralyzed from the waist down so is not able to run with me. Sometimes my foster mom says I terrorize my foster sister, but I just want her to play with me. She is teaching me boundaries, which is hard for me to understand sometimes.

18. Where do you hang out when you are home alone? I have a house (an exercise pen with a bed, puppy pads, water and my food bowl.

19. Where do you sleep? In my house, but my foster mom says that once I am housebroken my new family might let me sleep in someone’s bedroom.

20. Do you like walking on a leash? I’m still learning that the leash is not scary. My foster mom says once I get used to the outdoors, we will start leash training more.

21. Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard? I mark the other dogs beds. As a puppy, I like for everything to go in my mouth, but we are working on that too. I know leave it, but I am a teenager. I have an affinity for anything that is fiber, especially things like harnesses on my dog siblings, car tethers, etc.

22. What’s your potty situation? Diapers? No Diapers? Continent or not? No diapers for me. I’m going to be a big boy who learns to go where it is appropriate.

23. Do you like water? I don’t really know. I used to not like my feet getting wet, but now that does not bother me.

24. What do you love about your foster family? They love me even with all of my puppy behaviors. There are lots of dog beds in the house, so I can nap where I want to and they have lots of chew toys and some of them even squeak. They have learned that a canned food filled frozen Kong is a great way to get me to settle when I get overly rambunctious.

25. What was your life like before being brought into Lily’s Pad Rescue? I was only 8 weeks old when I came into rescue, so I really don’t remember.
