Scout 's Story

Scout is one of two Great Danes dumped in a wooded area with their belongings and no humans in site. Her friend was adopted immediately upon capture and Scout made her way to our rescue. We would like to thank our wonderful volunteer that took the time to secure the dogs and make certain they were safe until they could be safely placed.

Normally, I will edit and clean up photos prior to posting, but I wanted to pull back the curtain a little and let you see what occurs when a VERY timid dog enters rescue and comes to the rescue ranch for the first time. Scout is about 2 years old, good with all the dogs she's met and our volunteer had cats that she ignored. She is extremely TIMID with humans and requires time to be sure she's safe. She will require time, patience, love and socialization from her forever home in order to become the best girl she can be.

We are going to work on her socialization around humans, noises and new places. Hopefully, as the process moves on she will learn to trust. Because of her fear of humans, Scout will not be placed in a home with children under 10 years old. She has had vaccines, worming and heartworm testing and we will be scheduling her spay shortly.
