Scout's Story

This is Scout.
We apologize for the length of this post, but Scout is a very special boy who deserves to be truly understood.

Scout came to us about a year ago and is currently around 5 years old. When he first arrived, Scout did not show well. He was very scared and, out of fear, could present himself as aggressive. With time, patience, and consistency, Scout has made incredible progress.

We worked closely with him and eventually moved him to our free dog room, where he now gets along well with the other dogs. Once Scout builds trust, he loves people. He will let you pick him up, enjoys being held and carried like a baby, and truly thrives on affection from those he feels safe with.

Scout is ready for his forever home. He would do best in a quiet, adult-only home (no children) where he can continue to feel secure and supported. He is a snuggle bug, loves his squeaky toys, and goes crazy for dried liver treats.

Scout will need a few meet and greets with our staff to make sure he is comfortable—and that you are comfortable with him as well. He is absolutely a diamond in the rough and deeply loves to be loved on once trust is established.

Scout was found running the streets and picked up by animal control, meaning someone dumped him. Despite that, he has so much love left to give to the right person.

👉 Please apply at rivervalleyanimalrescue.org
