Scout's Story
Meet Scout

Yes, that Scout. The one with the ice blue eye and enough energy to power a small city.

Scout came to us as a stray on 01 02 2026. He is microchipped and neutered, and there are no geographical adoption restrictions. We worked closely with Stafford SPCA and made multiple attempts to contact the owner listed on his microchip, but every attempt was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, that leads us to believe Scout was not wanted anymore.

Because Scout came to us as a stray, his medical and behavioral history is mostly a mystery. What we do know is this
• He is about 3 years old
• He weighs around 78 pounds
• He is very high energy
• We believe he is housebroken
• He has opinions, enthusiasm, and zero chill

Scout recently went to the vet and was treated for foot infections and a severe ear infection, and he is already feeling much better.

Let’s talk about that energy. Scout is not a couch ornament. He is not low-key. He is not here for a slow, quiet lifestyle. He is the kind of dog who wants to go, do, run, play, and then do it again. He may think he’s a lap dog once he’s in a home, but at 78 pounds, he will not fit in your purse.

Scout needs an adopter or rescue who understands high-energy dogs and is ready to give him structure, outlets, and attention. In return, you’ll get a fun, expressive, big personality dog who is ready to be someone’s adventure buddy.
We are asking adopters and rescues to please take a look at Scout. High-energy dogs are often overlooked, but they thrive in the right environment, and Scout deserves that chance.

Come meet him. Bring your sense of humor. Bring your walking shoes.

Stafford County Animal Shelter
26 Frosty Lane
Stafford, VA 22554

Hours
Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Closed Sundays and holidays

Adoptions conclude 30 minutes before closing.

Scout is ready. He just needs someone ready for him.
