Scout's Story

Hi, I'm Scout. I'm a beautiful 60 lb. Labrador Retriever mix female, born in May of 2022. I'll only be adopted to a home in Hanover County, VA, the Richmond Metro area, or counties adjacent to Hanover.

I'm a happy girl, surrendered from no fault of my own. I'm looking for a fun, lively household who wants a fun, lively dog. First of all... I LOVE to play fetch and run around. If you want a companion to hike, jog, or run I'm your girl. I walk well on leash, and like to ride in the car. I definitely like playing with humans more than dogs, and I am VERY selective about which dogs I like. You can walk me on leash out in public and I will be fine around other dogs, but off-leash in a dog park is a definite no-go for right now. I've done sleepovers with HHS staff and they said I was an excellent houseguest - no accidents, and slept all night in the bed with my person. I'm a bit too much for little children, but older children should be fine.

I do need to stay on good-quality dog food with no chicken to keep my coat looking sleek and shiny. I've been eating a salmon and pea food the past few months and my coat is beautiful, now.

If you're interested in possibly adopting me, please email to info@hanoverhumanesociety.org and request a no-obligation adoption application. After we review your application, we'll contact you to schedule an appointment to meet Scout.
