Scout's Story
Time for an introduction to our recently rescued pups, coming to us all the way from Manitoba. They were living outdoors and now that they have settled into rescue life they are looking forward to a much brighter future!
To answer the inevitable question "what breed is Scout?" we really don't know for sure. We always call our Manitoba rescues "Manitoba mixes". Mom was a mix and we have no information on Dad. Whatever their DNA consists of, they are beautiful, sweet and deserving. They are expected to be large adults once fully grown.
Scout is thought to be around 9 weeks old and has had his first wellness check with the vet, 1st & 2nd DAPP vaccines, fecal testing, deworming, parasite prevention (Nexgard Spectra) and is microchipped.
He has settled nicely into a foster home. His foster momma has the following to say: Smart, curious, confident, fast-learner, strong nose, very attentive. He loves to play and is cuddly & affectionate.
Scout enjoys playing with his foster's grand dog - a 65 lb. standard poodle and would probably enjoy a friendly, well-balanced fur sibling. He is seeking a dog experienced home - if there are any kids in the home we require that they are school-aged (10+) & dog savvy, ideally with large breed dogs.
We do not know his experience with dogs before arriving to us but as with most puppies he would benefit from continued socialization with other friendly dogs...but no dog parks please! This goes for all of our available dogs - please google reasons why your dog should not attend a dog park. However we do think puppy lessons (individual & group classes) are a great way to train, bond with and help set up your new family member for success.
Puppies this age require someone home more often than not - they require crate training, potty training & socialization and should have someone available to help them with this every few hours. Being left alone for a full work day would not be suitable for any of the pups in our care.
Please send an EMAIL (or Petfinder form + follow up email) with additional questions or to request an application and meeting. Scout and siblings will be meeting with approved adopters and ready for forever homes the weekend of April 17-18th.

*** Please note that we only adopt locally, ideally within an hour or so from our Chesterville/Morewood, ON. location ***
