Scott's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Hello my name is Scott but my mom calls me Sam and I only answer to "Puppy". I'm an eight month old 50lb shepherd mix. I'm very cuddly and affectionate right off the bat. I'm outgoing and friendly with everyone I meet but I also really enjoy curling up next to my foster Mom and Dad when they're laying in bed or sitting on the sofa. My foster Dad says I'm definitely a "go with the flow" kind of guy. I am very adaptable to new environments and I do great with my one year old K9 foster brother. We love to run around the yard and wrestle together.

I am a little bit food insecure (but not at all aggressive) and would benefit from a slow feeder rather than a traditional food bowl otherwise I inhale my entire food bowl in 2 minutes flat! I'm a very food motivated fella and sometimes I get too excited and jump on my foster mom when she opens the treat/ food cabinet. So, because I'm an excited jumper and will grow into a larger dog I might need some extra training around smaller children. I would do well in a home with other dogs but would be perfectly happy as an only dog, it don't matter much to me.

I'm great with potty training in my foster home, I only had 2 accidents. I am not a big fan of the crate but I only cry for about 10 minutes and then I fall asleep. Mom says its important for me to be in the crate when she's not home because apparently I'm the kind of dog that will eat something I shouldn't. I do great on a leash and enjoy a slower paced sniff walk. I'm a fast learner and a big people pleaser.

I know basic commands like "sit" and "down" but we're still working on "stay" and "leave it." Whoever gets lucky enough to adopt me will have a built in best friend/ snuggle buddy. I hope I can find my forever home/ family soon!

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
