Scootin’s FAQs

What is Burke County Animal Services’s adoption process?

We try to keep our online pages up to date with pictures and descriptions of our adoptable animals. However, the best way to view all current adoptable animals is to come and visit our facility in person! Potential adopters will be able to meet and interact with adoptable animals at our facility. If a potential adopter finds an animal they are interested in, we have a short in-person adoption agreement to fill out. Our adoption fee for dogs & puppies is $40, cats & kittens are $20, and includes a mandatory spay/neuter and rabies vaccine, preventative vaccines, dewormer, and flea/tick preventative. All animals must be spayed/neutered and rabies vaccinated before being adopted. Those who are not are eligible for "Foster-to-Adopt/Pre-Adoption," and will be able to be officially adopted once altered. All adoptions are first come, first served. The adoption fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
