Scooter's Story

Meet Scooter!

Scooter is a 1.5-year-old petite Australian Shepherd with a big heart, a sharp mind, and an incredible spirit. Although Scooter is visually impaired, he does not let it slow him down one bit. He is a quick learner, very smart, and eager to engage with the world around him at his own pace.

Scooter absolutely loves other dogs and is always up for playtime. He has a gentle, respectful play style and takes cues and corrections from other dogs well, often leaning toward the more submissive side. Having a fenced yard is especially important for Scooter, as a physical boundary helps him navigate safely and confidently while he plays and explores. Scooter’s intelligence and problem-solving skills are so strong that his visual impairment doesn’t define his limits. With the right setup, he could thrive in fun agility-style or enrichment activities.

The world is still new to Scooter, and he is working on his leash skills while learning to take new experiences at a comfortable pace. With patience and consistency, he continues to build confidence every day. Scooter has spent time with young children and, while he would do best in a calmer forever home, he did well once he adjusted to the fast movements and louder noises typical of younger children.

Scooter has good house manners and is comfortable relaxing in his space while his foster mom is at work. He is crate trained and settles well. He can be a little unsure when getting into the car, but once he is settled inside, he enjoys the ride.

This sweet boy is highly responsive to guidance and corrections and loves having structure and reassurance. When playtime winds down, Scooter’s favorite things are his toys and snuggling up with his people. He is pure sweetness and is looking for a home that will give him the time, patience, and love he needs to continue learning and truly become part of the family.

If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a gentle soul and a resilient heart, Scooter may be your perfect match.
