Scarlett's Story

** This is an Out Of Town listing. We transport to the city on this listing. Please apply at www.bit.ly/mu-adopt ** This transport stop arrives early late on a Friday evening at Buc-ee's in Kodak.

Meet Scarlett!

Scarlett is a 6.5 year old, 60-pound Sharpei mix who was saved from the euthanasia list of an overcrowded rural shelter. Scarlett has been patiently waiting in foster care ever since. Far too long, in fact. She's watched others come and go while she stays behind, overlooked time and time again. But she's still holding on, still hoping, still worthy.

Scarlett is a bit of a loner at heart—independent, self-sufficient, and not one to beg for attention. She's not going to be the life of the dog park or the kind of pup who wants to cuddle strangers. But give her time, earn her trust, and you'll see the sweet glimmers of affection that she reserves only for her people. She's incredibly food-motivated, which makes bonding (and training) easier, and she wouldn't mind a home with a doggy door where she can choose when to relax inside or sunbathe in the yard. While Scarlett doesn't mind running the fence line racing the dog on the other side, Scarlett will do best as your one and only dog—your solo companion, your steady shadow.

She may not be the dog for everyone, but maybe—just maybe—she's the dog for YOU. If you've ever felt like an underdog yourself... if you know what its like to be overlooked, or just want to love a dog who needs someone to believe in her... Scarlett might be the kindred spirit you didn't know you needed. Not every dog is perfect. But every dog, including Scarlett, deserves a chance at love.

If your heart's tugging at you, don't ignore it. Scarlett's been waiting. Maybe she's been waiting for YOU. Keep reading to learn more...

_________

HOW TO APPLY TO ADOPT:

Start by filling out our online application at www.bit.ly/mu-adopt

Once submitted, we will reach out to approved applicants by phone. We may also suggest other amazing dogs in our care who could be a great fit for your home.

**NOTE: Completed applications take priority over Petfinder inquiries or emails.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:

This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $275 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.

VETTING:

All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. Note: We cannot guarantee breed mix. It is estimated based on physical characteristics and any known history.

To see more of the fur babies we rescue and love, follow us on Facebook: Misfits & Underdogs (www.facebook.com/misfitsunderdogs)
