Scarecrow's Story
Scarecrow got a much needed break from the shelter and visited a couple of her doggy friends at their house. She played with her dog friends and toys, zoomed around, splashed in the pool, enjoyed being petted, got some yummy snacks, and napped in the car on the way home.

She is a sweet but shy beauty who is overwhelmed in the shelter environment. Her silly, playful, goofy, sweet, relaxed self shines when she’s in a quiet place with her known friends. Scarecrow is in desperate need of a foster or adoptive home.

Scarecrow landed in the shelter after her owner was badly injured in a car accident, no longer able to care for Scarecrow. Her first weeks at the shelter were heartbreaking with Scarecrow cowering in the corner of her kennel. But then, over time, we saw her begin to blossom. She started to show more interest in staff and regular volunteers, eventually gobbling up the treats we tossed in her kennel. What a great day when she finally solicited petting through her kennel! She then ventured out to the shelter’s play yard and then went on walks on the shelter grounds with staff she knew well. She made friends with other dogs. Now, Scarecrow loves to go on walks in peaceful areas people she knows well, even better with a doggy pal. The shelter is still a tough and scary place for her.

She needs a special, patient, gentle person who understands good things come to those who wait. She needs someone who will go at her pace and keep her feeling safe as she enters the next phase of her journey in a new home. Are you that special person?
