Scamp's Story

Interviews are starting soon for Scamp!

Scamp is a 1-year-old handsome Newfie boy in a foster home near Cleveland, OH. He is ready to find his forver home! His favorite place is on the couch with his people, especially for slow morning snuggles and belly rubs. He's social and sweet when meeting new people. He will happily sit and wait for pets and attention.

Scamp loves spending time with other dogs and especially enjoys playdates filled with chase and wrestling games. He does ok with mellow dogs at home as long as he still gets opportunities for active play with another dog. He's wonderful on leash, enjoys sniffy neighborhood walks and meeting neighbors along the way. He does have a prey drive, so cats are not a good fit. When overly excited, he can become jumpy or mouthy, but he redirects well with toys or puzzle activities.

Like many young giant breed dogs, Scamp still needs structure and supervision. He will benefit from training classes with his new family to help him through the teenage stage. He is very clever and treats a baby gate or closed door as a puzzle to overcome. He must be crated overnight and whenever left alone because he is a strong chewer who will swallow inappropriate items. His favorite activities include tug with giant rope toys, chewing on durable bones and toys, shredding cardboard, and riding in the car — preferably as close to his humans as possible. (Watch our or he will sneak into the fron seat with you! In Scamp's opinion, the best seat is directly in your lap.

Scamp's Wish List:

An adopter that appreciates goofy affection, understands big puppy energy, and is ready to continue helping him channel his excitement in positive ways.
A playmate dog in the home is his number one request!
A very secure fenced yard (he's an escape artist) or multiple long walks daily.
A comfortable crate to keep him safe from his own silly antics.
Someone who will tell him what a gorgeous boy he is every single day.

It's never too soon to submit an application, you only need to apply once to be considered for any dog who is a match for your home.

** Want to send this dog a gift? When you purchase a bib or bandana from our store with the code 4FOSTER they will receive it. The rescue receives the profit from the sale and the foster dog receives a gift!

When purchasing for a specific dog, please include that note in the comments.

Or, purchase one for yourself!

Link for Bibs

https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/product-category/bib/

Link for Bandanas

https://nationalnewfoundlandrescue.com/product-category/bandanas/
