Scamp's Story
Meet Scamp – Your New Velcro Sidekick!

Scamp is a ridiculously adorable, playful, and loving little guy who is ready to land in his forever home. He’s likely a Chihuahua–Jack Russell mix, around 6–8 years old, but don’t believe it for a second — this boy acts much younger and has energy to spare!

Scamp didn’t have the easiest start and was dumped by his previous owner. When he first arrived, he was scared, shaky, and stayed tucked safely in his crate. With a little patience (and cheese… cheese helped a lot), Scamp slowly realized he was safe — and now his sweet, snuggly personality is fully on display.

He can be a bit skittish with new people and doesn’t love being picked up, but once you sit down, he’ll be in your lap in a flash. At bedtime? He’s already there, ready to snuggle, give kisses, and soak up all the love. He makes the best eye contact, follows his person everywhere, and developed strong Velcro-dog tendencies in under a week.

Scamp is house trained, knows sit, and takes treats very politely. He walks on a leash and prefers to lead the parade — we’re working on the pulling, but he’s enthusiastic about life and wants to see everything.

He’ll sleep in a crate if needed, but let’s be honest — he’d much rather be sleeping in your bed.

Scamp has a lot of energy and absolutely needs a fully fenced, secure yard where he can zoom at top speed and burn it off. He’s learning how to play with toys and is clearly figuring out what toys even are for the first time.

He loves other dogs and is very tolerant, even with an exuberant puppy. He’d likely enjoy having a dog friend in the home, though it’s not required. He is not an apartment dog.

He does shed and enjoys regular brushing — bonus: brushing time = bonding time!

Scamp is vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Scamp’s Perfect Home:

- A fully fenced, secure yard for daily zoomies
- A home (not an apartment) with space to run and play
- A person or family who enjoys an active, affectionate dog
- Someone who understands he may be shy at first but bonds deeply
- Another dog friend would be great — but not required
- A home where laps, snuggles, and bed privileges are encouraged

If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow who will steal your heart, your bed, and probably your snacks — Scamp is your guy.

Scamp is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast and Canada.

$300 Adoption fee includes vaccinations, Spay/Neuter, microchip, deworming,
$300 fee for Transport and vet/documentation requirements in preparation for transport.

You can find my form "AJC Rescue & Transport Adoption Application" at:

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AJCR/Dog
