Savannah's Story

Savannah is our newest intake after being found dumped with fresh sutures from a C-Section. This pretty girl is around 2years old, is friendly and very sweet! She is a fun and young dogo that has lots of good energy to burn and would benefit from an active home. She loves playing with other dogs so we do recommend a home with a big dog she can rough around with. Savannah thinks everyone she meets is her new best friend and has a really friendly personality. So much that she jumps on you so we are working on those manners!

She is a big girl at 100lbs now and still going to fill out. She has a very athletic structure and loves to run full speed! She just learned about the pond and likes to get a little wet but not dive in head first like some dogs. Savannah has been very good around the other dogs both males and females. She does not react to them even if they try to give her a hard time so her temperament is good right now and we hope to keep it that way!

Savannah has not been around kiddos yet but she would definitely bulldozed little ones over with her high energy and need for proper manners. Due to that, we prefer not to put her in a home with little kids. However, we do prefer she has a home where she can play with other dogs on a regular basis. She really loves interacting with other dogs and needs a good playmate for her energy. She is crate trained though and behaves very well so this dog has a lot of potential to be the perfectly trained dogo!

Savannahs' story is that she was found on the streets and still had her surgical wound healing. Not sure why someone would do this to a new mama but they did. Aside from what we saw, we don't know much about her but we know that now she is simply and amazing dogo girl!

We will update more about Savannah as we learn about her!

Dogos are a wonderful breed but we urge anyone interested to dig in and do a lot of research before
deciding if they are a good fit for your home. They require a lot of attention and training with them
never ends! Boundaries must be enforced and they often need reminders as they push past boundaires
you set! Dogos are loving, kind and gentle but don't mistake that for weakness because they are equally
powerful and intense as well! Everyone in the home must be on board with having a dogo and play a
major role in their daily routines and training. Yes it is work, but the rewards are ten-fold! Lazy homes
don't work for dogos as they need stimulation, exercise, and lots of attention too during their younger
years. Our goal in rescue is to be as transparent as we can about each and every dog plus make sure new
families really understand the needs of a dogo!

DC Dogos is committed to rescuing Dogos.
